A new data privacy law

Dear Customer,

From May 25, 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation, known as GDPR, creates a single set of rules that aim to better protect your personal information. This allows you to have more control over your personal data and introduces higher quality standards on their handling, processing and storage.

As we have always done, we will continue to collect, use, store, and share your data safely and securely. We have updated our privacy notice to reflect changes in our privacy practices. It lists the categories of personal data we collect, explains how we use this data and your rights under GDPR. We’ll let you know if we update it in the future.

You do not need to do anything, however if you would like to read the latest version of our privacy notice, you can find it on our website at www.rcbcy.com or read a summary of the main points below.

Data security continues to be a top priority
Banking business is a confidential matter. We take the trust that you place in us as an obligation to handle all your data and information with the utmost care and to do everything to prevent this data fr om being misused.

The information we use and wh ere we get it from
We collect and process personal information, such as name, contact details and information about financial circumstances, accounts and transactions. In case of legal entities, such information may be collected for all individuals related to our business relationship, including directors, authorised signatories and beneficial owners. Most of your information will have been provided by you or created through your use of our products and services and/or from third parties (such as credit bureau in case you request credit facilities).

Your rights
You have legal rights to control what we do with your information. For example, you can ask for a copy of the information we have about you, update your information, object or restrict the use of your information in certain circumstances, for instance stop us from sending you marketing material.

How we use your information
We use your information mainly to provide you with products and services. We also use it to comply with laws and regulations that apply to us, such as for the prevention of money laundering, terrorist financing and international sanctions.

Sharing your information outside RCB
We keep your information confidential and will only share your information outside of RCB for the purposes mentioned in our privacy notice such as with third party service providers, regulators, or as required by law.

How long we keep your information
We do not keep your information for longer than we need to, which is usually up to ten years after your relationship with the bank ends, unless we are legally required to keep it longer.

We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. To ensure your information remains accurate and confidential we may monitor or record communications (such as calls or emails), to protect you and us.
